But sometimes a tension corner shower caddy might be too much (or too little) for a bathroom. Like the mDesign Bathroom Shower 4-Tier Constant Tension Caddy, the mDesign Free Standing Corner is made by a company called Metro Décor. Also, as mentioned already a few times in the previous two shower organizer reviews before this, Metro Décor is a USA-based company that specializes in storage products that include, but not limited to, kitchen storage and bathroom storage solutions.
The mDesign Free Standing Corner, as mentioned, has 2-tier and 3-tier variants. Arguably, if you’re looking for functionality, the 3-tier option can make the most bang out of your buck because, for just a few more dollars, you can get an extra shelf to store more of your shower goodies.
The mDesign Free Standing Corner’s shelves are evenly spaced if you’re asking, and medium-sized and several large-sized bottles can easily feed the bottom shelf and the middle shelf (if you’re looking at the 3-tier variant). For convenience and ease of use, you can opt to place your bars of soap on the topmost shelf while your easy to grab bottled shower essentials can be allocated at the middle and bottom shelves.

Unfortunately, according to the answers of some people in Amazon, the mDesign Free Standing Corner cannot be placed on a countertop nor the small ledge between your bathtub and wall because frankly, the freestanding corner shower caddy is a little bit on the bulky side.
All of the freestanding corner shower caddies reviewed on this website are bulkier than the mDesign Free Standing Corner. But if you’re looking for a sleeker and less-edgy option regarding aesthetics, you can look at the simplehuman Corner. But the simplehuman Corner too is not suitable for bathtub use. If you’re looking for storage solutions for your bathtub, a bathtub caddy is a nice and more appropriate alternative to a shower caddy.
With all honesty, the mDesign Free Standing Corner just looks like a regular freestanding corner shower caddy that one would normally get if they’re either a minimalist or just can’t choose between all the modern-looking freestanding corner shower caddies like the simplehuman Corner and the OXO Corner Standing. But nevertheless, the shower caddy looks classy and vintage with its appearance and perfectly matched bronze color.
Below are the pros for the mDesign Free Standing Corner. As a disclaimer, the pros below and the entirety of the review below are in no way endorsed by Metro Décor or Amazon.
- It’s rust-resistant. Made of steel and rust-resistant finish is a normal practice for Metro Décor in all its shower caddies. Taking into account the previous two Metro Décor shower organizer reviews, all boast a rust-resistant finish. The mDesign Free Standing Corner’s rust-resistance is nothing too much to be happy about, but it’s surely a plus compared to just a plain steel finish that will eventually rust in the long run. Basing from reviews in Amazon, there have been no cases of the shower organizer rusting as of the time of writing.
- Shabby chic piece. In interior design lingo, shabby chic means a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. The mDesign Free Standing Corner clearly reflects that style with its vintage look and bronze color.
- Most affordable of the bunch. Between all the freestanding corner shower caddies reviewed on this website as of the time of writing, the mDesign Free Standing Corner is the most affordable of them all with its price less than 50% than the other ones.
On the flip side, below is the con to the mDesign Free Standing Corner. As a disclaimer again, the cons are in no way manipulated by Metro Décor or Amazon – obviously.
- No rubber bottom. It’s very inconvenient for anyone to have a freestanding corner shower caddy that slides from a shower floor, especially if they’re inclined. Additionally, other than the inconvenience it brings, freestanding corner shower caddies with our rubber bottoms might also cause accidents because you’ll never know when it will tip over. Unfortunately, the mDesign Free Standing Corner is one of those shower caddies with no rubber bottoms.
Taking into account all the pros and the single con, the mDesign Free Standing Corner is rated four out of five stars overall. It’s rust-resistant, a great vintage-looking shower organizer, and most of all, it’s affordable, so what’s not to like? But the only downside is that it has no rubber bottom to prevent it from slipping or sliding your bathroom’s floor especially when it’s wet.
If you’re building a relaxing cottage-style or provincial bathroom, the mDesign Free Standing Corner is an interesting piece to add to your shabby chic bathroom collection. Otherwise, if you’re looking to build a more modern or industrial bathroom, the simplehuman Corner or OXO Corner Standing might be the ones you’re looking for.
